This week will see most of the major mobile phone manufacturers take the wraps off of their next wave of handsets at the Mobile World Congress expo in Barcelona. Here we list our pick of what’s been on show so far in Spain. Phone manufacturers have been threatening this for a while, but here’s one of the first examples of a handset sporting a built-in pico projector.

As well as being able to fire out your videos and snaps onto a nearby wall, Samsung’s Beam also boasts a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen and an eight megapixel camera. Sagem have teamed up with sportswear manufacturer Puma for this fitness-friendly new phone which includes a pedometer and GPS jogging tracking. However, its most interesting feature comes with a solar panel on its back panel that’s used to power the device.

While there’s been a deluge of new phones running Google’s Android operating system in Barcelona, Samsung were proudly showing off their very own brand-new OS. Called Bada, the platform is set to make its debut on the phone above – the S8500 Wave. Featuring a super-sharp anti-smudge AMOLED screen, the iPhone rival is expected to go on sale in April.

I was always wondering when somebody would come out with a phone and a beamer. However, I wonder how many lumens such a small compact device can produce? Also, the high power requirements of beamers are not always compatible with portanle devices.

Still interesting though...
